Jefferson
Middle School students who meet the eligibility requirements listed
below are invited to tryout for our Basketball or Track Teams.
In order
to participate on an interscholastic athletic team, each prospective
athlete must:
- Be a
bona fide student.
- Be regularly
enrolled and in regular attendance.
- Document
his/her age with a birth certificate.
- Must
be less than 15 years 9 months old to participate. On the day the student
reaches this age - regardless of when that day is - they become ineligible
to participate.
- 7th
graders regularly promoted from 6th grade are eligible to participate
regardless of entry GPA. To be eligible for 2nd semester, a 7th grader
must have a 2.0 or higher GPA from the first semester.
- 8th
grade students must be regularly promoted from the 7th grade. In addition
they must have a 2.0 GPA on all courses taken during the previous
year for first semester eligibility. 8th grade students must maintain
a 2.0 cumulative GPA on all courses taken since the beginning of the
7th grade.
- A student
is ineligible while on suspension either in or out of school and may
not partcipate until the day after the suspension.
- A licensed
Doctor's Statement for the current school year (dated
on or after July 1st, 2007) as to the student's physical condition
must be on file in the school. (Click

- A Parent
Consent Form signed by the student's parent or guardian,
must be on file in the school. (Click

- The
limit of eligibility for each student is two years from the time a
student enters the 7th grade in the middle school.
